Thinking School Consultancy
We provide consultancy services through a team of former Head and Deputy Heads whose own schools have taken the Thinking Schools journey. Our consultants work with school leaders, taking time to understand their school’s individual situations and offering advice on how to embed and measure the impact of a metacognitive approach to teaching within their organisations.
Our services can be provided both online and/or in-school, with equal effectiveness, incorporating a blended learning approach.
We complement our Thinking School Consultancy with teacher and CPD training. The training we offer varies depending on the needs of the schools we work with. It ranges from:
– Becoming a Thinking School: A flexible programme to suit the context and needs of your school.
to
– Deep Dive CPD Days: Individual twilight sessions designed for existing Thinking Schools that focus on specific aspects of cognitive education.
We base our training around our proprietary model. We call it “The Big Picture”. It echoes the University of Bristol requirements of becoming an accredited Thinking School and is shaped by seminal scientific research in the field of cognitive and metacognitive education as to what impacts student outcomes.
We have distilled the most important elements of this research and, with input from practitioners in the Thinking Schools Network, have created training that enables this research to be put into practice by teachers in the classroom. Crucially our consultants work with schools in how to apply The Big Picture in a WHOLE SCHOOL context so that it is understood and is used by all members of the school community across all subjects and by all student cohorts.
